This program might be for your family if...

  • Your child needs a different approach to reading instruction, one built specifically for how he or she learns.
  • Your child has a dyslexia diagnosis or a specific learning disability in the area of reading, or you strongly suspect it.
  • You want your child to return to his or her home school reading confidently, with the skills to succeed independently.
  • You understand that lasting change takes time. Most children attend for 2 to 3 years, and that sustained commitment is what drives real results.
  • You want to be a partner in the process. Families who stay engaged through workshops, regular communication, and home reinforcement see the strongest outcomes.

A few things to know before applying

  • Your child has more than one diagnosis? That is common. Many children with dyslexia also have ADHD or other learning differences. Let’s talk about whether Roberts Academy is a good fit.
  • You live far from Elon? Families across the Triad and Triangle are making it work. The commute is real, but so is what your child gets here. Let’s talk about it.

Ready to apply?

If you know you are ready to begin the formal application process:

Tuition and Financial Aid

Don’t let cost stop the conversation.

Two North Carolina scholarship programs can help reduce that cost for families who qualify. Most families who apply explore both.

The full tuition for 2026-2027 is $20,500 per year. We know that is a real number. It is also why Elon has created an additional scholarship program for families with remaining need.

Every family’s situation is different. We walk through financial aid opportunities with every family during the admissions process. You do not need to figure this out alone. Reach out and we will help you understand your options.

Three ways to reduce your cost

  1. NC Opportunity Scholarship
    • Available to NC families based on household income. Eligibility is broader than many families expect. This scholarship can cover up to $7,686 in tuition support.
  2. NC ESA+ Scholarship
    • Built for children with documented disabilities, including dyslexia. If your child has a current evaluation or IEP, he or she may be eligible. This scholarship can cover $9,000 in tuition support.
  3. Additional Elon Scholarship Opportunities

Admissions FAQ

Questions families ask before applying

Does my child need a formal dyslexia diagnosis to apply?

No. A formal diagnosis is helpful, but it is not required to start the process. Many families who come to us already recognize that their child processes reading differently, but have not yet completed a full evaluation. During the admissions process, we spend time with your child to understand how they learn. That helps us determine whether Roberts Academy is the right fit, with or without a prior diagnosis.

How long will my child attend Roberts Academy?

Most students attend for 2 to 3 years. The goal is not permanent placement. We are building the foundational skills your child needs to return to their home school reading at or near grade level, with the strategies and confidence to keep up on their own. We coordinate with your child’s home school from the start so that transition is planned and supported, not improvised when the time comes.

How much does it cost, and is financial aid available?

Tuition for 2026-2027 is $20,500 per year. Two North Carolina scholarships can help reduce that cost. The NC Opportunity Scholarship covers up to $7,686 based on household income. The NC ESA+ Scholarship covers up to $9,000 for children with documented disabilities, including dyslexia. Some families qualify for both. Elon also offers additional aid for families with remaining need. Every family’s situation is different, and we walk through your specific options during the admissions process.

My child has ADHD in addition to dyslexia. Can they still attend?

Many children with dyslexia also have ADHD or other learning differences. That is common, and it does not disqualify your child. We look at each family individually. The best way to find out is to reach out and have a conversation with us about your child’s specific needs.

What does the admissions process look like?

It starts with a short interest form. We follow up personally with every family. From there, you visit campus, meet our team, and we spend time with your child. We want to understand your child and make sure Roberts Academy is truly the right fit for your family.

What happens if Roberts Academy is not the right fit for my child?

We will not leave you without a path forward. If we determine that Roberts Academy is not the best placement for your child, we will connect you with other resources, programs, and support options that may be a better match. You will never walk away from this process empty-handed.

What if my child is not in 3rd or 4th grade?

We are launching with grades 3 and 4 in Fall 2026, with plans to expand to grades 1 through 6. If your child is younger or older, please still reach out. We want to know your family so you are first in line when we open the grade that fits.

When is the deadline to apply for Fall 2026?

There is no fixed deadline, but each class holds a maximum of 12 students. Once those spots are filled, enrollment closes. The earlier you reach out, the more time we have to work through the process together and the more options your family has.
