An original play written by assistant professor Jean Rohr will be performed April 30-May 2, 2010, by the North Carolina Black Repertory Company in Winston-Salem. Members of the company's Teen Theatre Ensemble will bring to life the intricate examination of the educational experience confronting some African-American males today.

Eight students from Cummings High School in Burlington will be earning college credits this spring at �������޹�����Ʒ through a program funded by a $10,000 grant from the College Board.

Annie Leonard, the activist behind the short film “The Story of Stuff,” comes to �������޹�����Ʒ for an April 22 evening lecture on the costs associated with the nation’s consumer-driven culture. Leonard’s appearance in McKinnon Hall, which is free and open to the public, coincides with Earth Day 2010.

�������޹�����Ʒ's School of Education honored the academic excellence of 44 undergraduate and graduate students on May 3 as they were inducted into the Sigma Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education.

A longtime Broadway stage manager has gifted to the university a collection of notebooks and other production material that will give students in the Department of Performing Arts an insider’s view of acclaimed shows such as “Equus” starring Daniel Radcliffe and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” with Kathleen Turner.

Thirteen rising juniors at Elon have been named recipients of the 2010 Lumen Prize, the university’s premier award that comes with a $15,000 scholarship to support and celebrate their academic achievements and research proposals.

World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee and Vint Cerf, widely known as a "father of the Internet" and Google's Chief Internet Evangelist, were among the more than 60 speakers leading more than 20 different events at the three-day FutureWeb conference in Raleigh, N.C., April 28-30. The event was organized by the Imagining the Internet Center of Elon's School of Communications, and involved more than 40 Elon students, faculty and staff.

Elon trustee Frank R. Lyon ’71 and his wife, Natalie Lyon, of New Canaan, Conn., longtime supporters of the Elon Academy, have made a major gift for the creation of an endowed scholarship that will aid graduates of the college enrichment program for high school students in Alamance County.

A major gift by Elon trustee Jeanne Robertson and her husband Jerry will provide lead funding for a renovation project for Alumni Gym in Koury Center. The project will upgrade Elon's home for basketball and volleyball, convocations and other large campus events.
