Required Immunizations for Elon Students

As part of �������޹�����Ʒ’s commitment to student health and safety—and in compliance with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services ()- all new/readmitted students must submit documentation of required immunizations before starting classes. This includes students entering Elon in summer, fall, winter, or spring terms.

Failure to comply with these requirements will result in a registration hold and potential removal from class after the first 30 days of the term.

We strongly recommend submitting your records early to allow time for processing and any necessary follow-up. Please allow seven (7) days for initial review of records.

Required Immunizations

All students must submit official documentation of the following per NCDHHS:

• DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) vaccines
• 1 Tdap booster (within the last 10 years)
• 3 Polio vaccines (not required if over age 18)
• 2 MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines
• 3 Hepatitis B vaccines (or 2 doses of the brand of )
• 1 Meningococcal vaccine (one meningococcal ACWY or conjugate vaccine – required after age 16). Accepted brands are Menveo® and MenQuadfi®, Menactra® (older vaccine, discontinued in 2022), PENMENVY™ and the pentavalent vaccine Penbraya™. Meningococcal B vaccines such as Trumenba and Bexsero are not accepted as substitutes for the meningococcal ACWY vaccine required for school or college entry in North Carolina which are specifically Serogroup B (MenB) vaccines.
• 2 Varicella (Anyone born before April 1, 2001, is not required to get the varicella vaccine)

How to Submit Your Records

1. Complete enrollment in process using your elon.edu e-mail
2. Log into the Immunization
3. Upload a copy of your official immunization record (signed by a provider).
4. Complete the required online immunization form in the portal.
5. Check your  regularly for status updates or additional instructions. Once undergraduates have met all immunization compliance requirements, their Acorn Account will display a green checkmark. Please allow 48 hours for the Acorn account to reflect compliance.

Recommended Vaccines

In addition to the required immunizations, �������޹�����Ʒ strongly encourages all students to receive the following vaccines to protect their health and the well-being of the campus community:

• Seasonal Influenza (Flu) Vaccine – administered annually
• COVID-19 Vaccine – including boosters as recommended by the

The university will provide information about on-campus flu vaccine clinics during the fall semester. Students are encouraged to stay up to date with CDC guidance on vaccinations for college-age populations.

Medical or Religious Exemptions

Elon recognizes valid medical or religious exemptions as allowed by NCDHHS. To apply for an exemption:

• Download the appropriate form from the Immunization Compliance Verification Portal.
• Submit completed documentation before the deadline for your entry term.

Immunization Records Request Form

Your medical information will not be released without your permission except in life-threatening emergencies, or unless required by federal, state, or local law(s).  In the event of telephone calls from parents about your medical care Elon Health Services or the Student Health Insurance and Immunization offices are unable to release any medical information to your parents without your explicit verbal or written permission if you are 18 years of age or older.  A “blanket” authorization form is not allowed for students to sign in case of what you might want to release to a third party now, you might not want to release at a later date. A release form will need to be submitted and signed each time you want new information released from your records.

During times of the transfer of medical care to another health care institution or organization is necessary. In order for medical information to be released, a written release must be signed by the requesting student.

Release of Immunization Records for Elon Alumni, Graduating Elon Students or Current Elon Students

• Complete all sections of the form – requests will not be processed if the form is incomplete.
• Requests for your records can take between 7-10 business days to process.

  The Immunizations Records Request Form is only for Elon Alumni, graduating Elon students or current Elon students seeking past immunization records that were submitted during the matriculation process to the university. The Immunization Records Request Form is not available for incoming, matriculating students for the upcoming semester.

  Please note: Recently accepted students for the upcoming semester, INCOMING STUDENTS will need to submit vaccine documentation to the  for verification to be in compliance for the Immunization Requirement as part of your matriculation requirements for attendance to the university. Vaccine records from your physican, healthcare agency or pharmacy in which your vaccines were administered will need to be submitted by July 1. Elon will not have vaccine records for recently accepted, incoming students. Please upload your vaccine documents on the Immunization Compliance Verfication Portal.
