Rick Earl knows how to build a working microphone using just plastic cups and a little bit of wire. So when Earl, technical director for cultural and special programs, couldn’t find an affordable classic directional microphone, he decided to take matters into his own hands and build his own model.

For Michelle Ferrier, food represents a part of life that everyone not only takes part in, but is continuously affected by on many levels. So when she had the opportunity to develop a website around a local topic, the associate professor of communications chose local food, or eating geographically, as the focus of , a website she launched last year.

They say love can happen when you least expect it. That was certainly the case for these faculty and staff who found love while working at Elon.

Pam Brumbaugh and Paul Miller are among the members of the campus community who have made a gift to the 2010-2011 Faculty/Staff Campaign, which is on track to become one of the university’s most successful annual giving drives among employees.

When it comes to the performing arts, the exploration of love provides ample material for plays, musicals and dance.

While the lack of love typically takes center stage in divorce courts, a law in North Carolina allows spouses to take legal action if they feel someone has wrongfully alienated their husband’s or wife’s love.
