Elon in LA instructor to release new acting book

Talent manager and publicist Brad Lemack will release his third book, “The New Business of Acting: The Next Edition," in September.

鈥婤rad Lemack, an instructor in the Elon in Los Angeles program, has written about the business of acting since the turn of the century. Nearly two decades later, the talent manager and publicist recently announced that his third book, 鈥淭he New Business of Acting: The Next Edition,鈥 is聽set to hit shelves and e-readers in September.

Brad Lemack has served as an instructor in the Elon in Los Angeles program since 2010.

The book, published by Ingenuity Press USA, expands on the topics and themes discussed in Lemack鈥檚 first two publications, focusing on the challenges actors face in launching, seeking and maintaining rewarding聽careers in the new business of acting.

鈥淭he Next Edition鈥 includes 20 new and revised chapters that address the impact of the #MeToo movement, self-tape auditions, online career branding, the SAG-AFTRA union鈥檚 $125 a day dilemma for actors, the new tax plan鈥檚 impact on actors, and the overall impact of changes across the industry.

Lemack’s book, “The New Business of Acting: The Next Edition,” will hit shelves and e-readers in September.

鈥淚 write about the #MeToo movement and its impact on new-to-the-business actors, as well as what it all means to former or current 鈥榳orking鈥 actors seeking to rebrand their careers,鈥 wrote Lemack in an online promotion. 鈥淭he book also explores the struggles of an industry to rebrand its own tainted image.鈥

Lemark has taught in the Elon in LA program since 2010, supervising internships as well as teaching its Entertainment Public Relations course. The award-winning publicist and talent manager opened Los Angeles-based Lemack & Company Talent Management/Public Relations in 1982. Prior to that, he was a publicity executive at pioneering TV producer Norman Lear’s production company. He was also a producer and broadcaster in Boston.

鈥婬is first book, 鈥淭he Business of Acting: The Skills You Need to Build the Career You Want,鈥 was initially published in 2002. His second book, 鈥淭he New Business of Acting: How to Build a Career in a Changing Landscape,鈥 was printed in 2010.
