GPS Scholars Frequently Asked Questions
● Do/will I have time for this?
Yes! Many Scholars balance being a Global Partnership Scholar with extracurricular activities, Fellows or Honors work, double majors, minors, and more and still have time to spare. The program is designed to assist students so that they can achieve everything that they want from their Elon experience.
● What if I want to travel but I’m not sure if I can afford it?
Great question! Need-based financial aid is available to Scholars who already receive financial aid from Elon and would like to travel.
● What if I want to be a part of this amazing program but am not sure if I want to travel?
Traveling is not required, but encouraged! Some Scholars choose not to travel during their time in the program and that is perfectly ok! They remain a crucial part of their Class’ activities and remain fully integrated in all things GPS.
● What if I don’t know my major or what if I feel that my major doesn’t really “go” with this kind of work?
Students from departments and majors all across Elon take part in the GPS program; from finance to biology, there’s a place for everyone in GPS. We appreciate and welcome the diversity of knowledge, interests, and experiences that Elon students bring to the program!
● When can I apply?
The application process for the Global Partnership Scholars program begins every fall for first-year students. If you are not a first-year student and are interested, unfortunately, you will not be able to apply.
● What if I still have more questions?
The program’s amazing Directors, Faculty Mentors, and Scholars are happy to answer any questions or help you in the process of applying! Feel free to reach out to Professor Tapler, Director of the Global Partnership Scholars program at atapler@elon.edu for more information.
