Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright will be the featured speaker during �������޹�����Ʒ's Spring Convocation for Honors at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, in Alumni Gym. Tickets are still available for the general public and for students, faculty and staff.

Victoria “Tori” Davis, an �������޹�����Ʒ political science and international studies double major, has been named the recipient of a 2009 Fulbright U.S. Student Grant, one of the premier fellowships for post-graduate international study.

Matt Matheny, a 16-year veteran assistant basketball coach at Davidson College, has been selected to lead Elon's men's basketball program. He was introduced as the 17th head men's basketball coach in Elon history at a March 29 news conference, vowing his goal is to ensure the academic success of the players and at the same time propel Elon to a spot in the NCAA Division I tournament.

“One on One Sports,” a sports debate show produced by Elon Student Television, was named this week as one of three award-winners in the Newscast category of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences College Television Awards.

Frances Ward-Johnson, an associate professor in the School of Communications, has been named to the Universal Accreditation Board, the leading certification body for the public relations profession. Ward-Johnson was appointed to the board by Public Relations Society of America president Michael Cherenson and Felicia Blow, chair of the UAB.

Pam Kiser, Watts-Thompson Professor in the Department of Human Services, has accepted the position of Interim Dean of Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, and will start her new role with the university on June 1.

�������޹�����Ʒ senior Victoria “Tori” Davis has been named the recipient of a DACOR Bacon House Foundation fellowship for graduate study in international affairs, a $10,000 award that will assist her this fall as she begins work toward a doctorate in political science en route to a career with the U.S. Foreign Service.

Nancy Mairs, a contemporary nonfiction writer whose works have received national acclaim, visits �������޹�����Ʒ on March 17 for a 7:30 p.m. lecture in Whitley Auditorium sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum. Mairs will also spend part of her visit to Elon working with students in a creative writing/nonfiction class.
