Elon's Campus Shop will be moving from Moseley Center to its new location in the Elon Town Center at 130 N. Williamson Ave. next to the Acorn Coffee Shop this week. The bookstore will reopen as Barnes & Noble at ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· on Monday, Aug. 22. Movers will be in the Moseley location on Tuesday, Aug. 16, and Wednesday, Aug. 17, to move items to the new location. Both locations will be closed Aug. 18-21 in order to move the technology and register systems.

The best and brightest of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business were honored April 14, 2011, in an afternoon awards ceremony that highlighted the achievements of both students and faculty.

They look and feel the same as the caps and gowns used in previous ceremonies, but when candidates for ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·’s Master of Education participate in their Aug. 20, 2011, Commencement exercises, as part of the university’s sustainability commitment, their regalia contained fabric made from 100 percent recycled plastic bottles.

Thirty-nine students in the Master of Education program received their ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· degrees Saturday morning in a Commencement ceremony featuring a keynote address from professor Judith Howard, the longtime director of the education graduate program who retires this month after serving the university since 1993 as a teacher, researcher and mentor.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has recognized ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· in its 2011 “Great Colleges to Work For” program, which honors institutions for best practices and policies, such as teaching environment, respect and appreciation, and confidence in senior leadership.

A $250,000 endowment gift to the Ever Elon Campaign from The Levine-Sklut Family Foundation will significantly expand the university’s Jewish Studies program by establishing The Lori and Eric Sklut Emerging Scholar in Jewish Studies. This gift was made possible thanks to Elon parents Eric and Lori Sklut, of Charlotte, N.C.

John G. Currin Jr., president and chief executive officer of Alamance Regional Medical Center and ARMC Healthcare since 2005, was honored at a June 22 campus luncheon with the Frank S. Holt, Jr. Business Leadership Award, ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·’s highest honor for business leadership.

Elon's new master of science program in physician assistant (PA) studies will be located on the university's main campus. Elon's board of trustees made the decision in a special vote on Jan. 5, following more than two months of study and fundraising efforts.

The ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Board of Trustees has approved the establishment of a master of science program in physician assistant studies. The board's vote at its Oct. 22-23 fall meeting will launch Elon’s sixth graduate program.

¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·'s board of trustees voted April 15 to establish a new School of Health Sciences, serving graduate students in the existing doctor of physical therapy (DPT) program along with students in the new physician assistant (PA) studies master's program, which will enroll its first class in January 2013.
