Medical advances have allowed children infected with HIV/AIDS to live longer than ever before, and for families and doctors, that creates new challenges as teenage patients grow older. New research by associate professor Cynthia Fair outlines steps that families and medical providers should consider to ease what can be a difficult transition from pediatric to adult care.

Janna Anderson, associate professor in the School of Communications, led a special event on issues tied to hyperconnectivity, Web 3.0, cloud computing, user-generated content, social networks, ubiquitous computing and ambient intimacy, and augmented and virtual realities at the WorldFuture 2010 conference hosted by the World Future Society in Boston July 9.

Twenty professors and staff from colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada returned to ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· last week for the latest segment of a two-year seminar exploring the complexities of teaching “democratic thinking.”

¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· professors and students recently participated in the 10th Annual Summer Institute on Reacting to the Past at Barnard College in New York City.

Chris Leupold, an associate professor of psychology and faculty fellow for leadership studies, participated in the Eastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology from June 18-19, in Staunton, Va.

Elon faculty and student scholars will participate in a live online discussion entitled From Immersive and Service Learning to SoTL as honorees from the Lilly Greensboro 2010 Conference on Teaching and Learning. Representing Elon were Dr. Prudence Layne, assistant professor of English and coordinator of the African/African-American Studies Program (AAASE), along with five Elon student scholars associated with AAASE.
