Although many students, faculty and staff are away from campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the campus community still gathered to continue a long-standing Elon tradition on Tuesday.

The annual effort by Elon students, faculty and staff generates support for cancer research and those battling the disease. This year’s effort raised nearly $80,000.

John Varney ’23 of Washington, D.C., has died of complications from osteosarcoma. A Gathering of Friends in memory of Varney is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in the Sacred Space of the Numen Lumen Pavilion.
