In a new survey, public schools in the Tar Heel State receive low grades for performance, and there are gaps in knowledge about how schools are financed and governed.

The first Discovering Dyslexia session on Wednesday, Dec. 10 offered an opportunity for community members to learn more about the learning disability and the new Roberts Academy at �������޹�����Ʒ, a new transitional school that will be the state's only university-based private school for children with dyslexia.

Manny Campos and Stephanie Hernández Rivera completed the LatinxEd Fellowship, a statewide program focused on educational access and equity. Both returned to Elon with renewed purpose shaped by the retreat and graduation experiences.

Staff involved with the upcoming launch of a Roberts Academy at �������޹�����Ʒ traveled to Georgia in December to learn from teachers and program directors about their own experience in a school established for children with dyslexia.

The Elf Exchange encouraged students in the Elon 1010 Honors course to use whatever they could find in the Maker Hub, and their creative powers, to share joy with one another.

�������޹�����Ʒ’s Engineering in the Village program brings ABSS students together each month for free, hands-on STEM activities that spark creativity and confidence.

Nermin Vehabovic, along with collaborators from research-intensive universities in Canada and the United States, serve as guest editors for a special issue of 'Multicultural Perspectives' and contribute innovative, peer-reviewed research exploring refugee-background communities’ ways of knowing, doing, being and becoming.

Stephanie Hernandez Rivera and Jonathan McElderry’s new edited book, “Shaking the Table: Survival and Healing Amongst Identity Center Practitioners,” gives identity center professionals space to share their stories. Available Nov. 24.

William S. Long Professor and Professor of Education Jeffrey Carpenter and his co-authors published the article in the journals “Innovative Higher Education" and "Journal of Management Education."
