Overman's co-authors on the peer-reviewed research articles include two current Elon students as well as collaborators from Penn State University and North Carolina A&T State University.

Duckworth, a University of Pennsylvania professor, co-founder of the Character Lab and 2013 MacArthur Fellow headlined Elon's annual Spring Convocation on April 5. She's the best-selling author of "Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance."

The $34,000 grant is from the Colonial Academic Alliance, which seeks to link the colleges and universities that make up the Colonial Athletic Association. 

Meredith Allison and alumna Erin Martin co-authored an article on Canadian and American perceptions of sex offender registries with colleague Sandy Jung of MacEwan University in Canada.

Overman was invited to share research findings with colleagues at Duke's Center for Cognitive Neuroscience.
