Faculty and students from the ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Department of Physics attended the Oct. 23-24 regional meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers at UNC-Pembroke. The semi-annual conference brings together physics educators from universities, community colleges, and high schools to discuss teaching techniques and to review student research.

Featuring work by top scholars from around the world, Global Perspectives on Science and Spirituality, a new book edited by ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· professor Pranab Das, has been published with essays on an array of approaches to science and religion grounded in spiritual traditions ranging from Daoism to Eastern Orthodoxy and treating many scientific disciplines.

Two ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· faculty recently participated in a debate panel June 11-14 at Barnard College during the 9th Annual Summer Institute on Reacting to the Past.

Kyle Altmann and Elon alumnus Thad Norman are two of the co-authors on a paper published in the Journal of Applied Physics.

Elon physics professor Pranab Das oversees more than $6 million of grant funds supporting scholarship around the world. As the leader of three major initiatives funded by the John Templeton Foundation, Das is probing the limits of human understanding on questions that have existed for millennia.

A March 12 story on NPR's "Marketplace" program featured research into biomimetic cilia by Benjamin Evans, an assistant professor of physics who started his work as a graduate student at UNC Chapel Hill.

¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·'s chapter of the Society of Physics Students has been selected as an Outstanding SPS Chapter for the 2007-2008 school year.
