Commencement 2009 exercises will be streamed LIVE via Elon's Web site. The undergraduate Commencement video stream will start at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23. The ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law video stream will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 24.

¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law welcomes faculty from all law schools in North and South Carolina on Thursday, May 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the 2009 North and South Carolina Legal Research and Writing Colloquium. Faculty from other disciplines and practing attorneys will participate in the colloquium as well.

¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law has launched a special section of its Web site to celebrate the achievements and perspectives of its charter class, which graduates this spring.

David Gergen, adviser to four U.S. presidents, director of the Center for Public Leadership at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and chair of the ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law Advisory Board, will deliver the inaugural Commencement address for the law school, scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, May 24, at Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro. ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· will also present Gergen with an honorary doctorate at the ceremonies.

Graduating members of ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law and a guest are invited to celebrate Commencement with President and Mrs. Leo M. Lambert, Thursday, May 14 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at Maynard House, 2423 Pineway Drive in Burlington.

Chad Hinton and Ryan Stewart, both members of the class of 2009 at ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law, reported findings from their survey on the state of mentoring in the Wake County legal community to the Wake County Bar Association on April 30.

George Johnson, dean of the ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law, spoke with News 14 Carolina news anchor Tracey Early on May 7 about the U.S. Supreme Court and what criteria President Barack Obama may consider when selecting a replacement for Associate Justice David Souter, who announced this month plans to retire at the end of the Court's current term.

Professor Michael W. Lewis, a leading authority on national security and the law of war, appeared at the ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law on April 23 for a discussion with Elon Law Professor Victor Streib, entitled "9/11 Revisited, An Act of War or An Act of Organized Crime." The event was sponsored by the Elon Law chapter of the Federalist Society.
