Elon Law service day builds lasting partnerships

On Saturday, August 22, over 100 first and second-year law students volunteered their time through the third annual "Elon Law Reaches Out" community service day, supporting the work of numerous nonprofits across the region.

Andrew Haile provides analysis of “Sin Taxes” for WUNC and WNPR radio

On August 28, Elon Law professor Andrew Haile evaluated recent changes to the tax code in North Carolina as a special guest on WUNC radio's "The State of Things." The appearance followed Haile's August 12 interview with the hour-long radio program, "Where We Live," broadcast by WNPR-Connecticut Public Radio, providing historical and national context for Connecticut's debate to increase taxes on tobacco sales.

Elon Law faculty publish books, journal articles and news columns during summer 2009

Recent scholarship and service by Elon Law faculty members includes: "An Overview of U.S. Law," a book co-authored by Steven Friedland, a casebook on tort law co-authored by Helen Grant, a book on teaching strategies for law professors co-authored by Howard Katz, a law review article on personal jurisdiction by Catherine Ross Dunham, and a series of news columns about the need to reform North Carolina's judicial selection system by Scott Gaylord, Andrew Haile, and Alan Woodlief.

New faculty members join 福利亚洲国产精品 School of Law

福利亚洲国产精品 School of Law announced the appointment of three new faculty members on August 24. Sonya C. Garza and David S. Levine will serve as assistant professors of law, specializing in family law and intellectual property law respectively, and Roland Smith, a member of the faculty at the Center for Creative Leadership, will serve as professor of leadership, a visiting faculty position for the 2009-10 academic year.
