At an October 25 forum with John Fukunaga, Executive Vice President of the Corporate Legal department at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Elon Law students gained insights into pursuing a successful legal career.

Elon Law Professor David S. Levine recently presented at a conference on transparency in Paris and a conference on drones at NYU School of Law. He also continued his advocacy for transparency in fracking, wrote about NSA spying and net neutrality, and published insights about effective teaching and mentoring in legal education. 

Elon Law professor and Constitional Law scholar Scott Gaylord has provided analysis for several news organizations about the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court case Town of Greece, N.Y. v Galloway.

Volume five, Number 2 of the Elon Law Review includes articles examining humanitarian law in Sri Lanka, genocide in Srebrenica, the interplay between corruption and human rights violations, and issues in U.S. immigration law with regard to domestic violence and sexual orientation. Remarks from Angolan human rights activist Rafael Marques de Morais are featured.

On November 1, law scholars from across the country participated in an Elon Law Review symposium titled, “The Implications of United States v. Windsor and Hollingsworth v. Perry for Family Law, Constitutional Law, Tax Law, and Society.” 

More than $200 million in building projects are slated for development within blocks of ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· School of Law, providing several new cultural, educational and recreational opportunities for Elon Law students, faculty and staff. An October 20 News & Record article reports on eleven major projects moving forward in downtown Greensboro, including a performing arts center, a downtown university center, an urban greenway, a new park, a new hotel and several apartment complexes.

An October 24 forum featuring Elon Law Professor Steven Friedland and Robert Luisana, Managing Partner at Pilot Benefits, sought to clarify policies set forth in the Affordable Care Act.

Randall Bowman, Teresa LePors, and Shannon Tennant gave a presentation on Oct. 17 at the 60th North Carolina Library Association Biennial Conference in Winston-Salem.
