This is the next profile in "Elon Connected," a new series that highlights how students are involved with campus organizations at Elon.

Allocco will serve for a five-year term alongside Milda Ališauskienė (Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania) and lead a women's mentoring initiative among members of the Women Scholars Network.

Elon MUN earned multiple awards at the conference, where students from eight different universities competed. The Elon team received the recognition of “Best Small Delegation,” Griffin Barriss won the “Best Delegate Award,” and Hunter Copeland got a Verbal Commendation.

The four virtual lectures by scholars and activists were coordinated by the Department of World Languages and Cultures, El Centro, and programs of Latin American Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies Program, International and Global Studies, and the Women's, Gender, and Sexualities Studies.

The eight-week summer program was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and provided aspiring public relations professionals with access to top agency executives and webinars on strategic planning, data, social media strategy and crisis communications.

Nicole Plante '20 earned an $8,500 fellowship in support of her graduate school work in Middle Eastern studies at Harvard University.
