Haley, the former governor of South Carolina who served nearly two years as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is the first speaker in ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·'s 2019-20 Speaker Series. 

Among those visiting Elon next year are former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Wikipedia founder and entrepreneur Jimmy Wales, Sesame Street actress and author Sonia Manzano, free speech advocate and author Zachary R. Wood and renowned civil rights scholar and Phi Beta Kappa leader Frederick M. Lawrence.

The April 11 event will be a moderated discussion about food, sustainability and economic development featuring chef Vivian Howard of the award-winning PBS show, “A Chef’s Life,” and Cynthia Hill, the show’s director.

In April, the Center for Race, Ethnicity & Diversity Education (CREDE) commemorates the achievements and contributions of people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent in the United States.

Gillard, who will deliver the Baird Lecture at Elon's Spring Convocation on April 4, offers her take on a variety of topics in advance of her visit to the university. 

The World Percussion Ensemble presents its spring concert at the Elon Taphouse, West College Avenue, at 10 p.m.

The production is 90 minutes of zany fun and classic songs from The Great American Songbook.
