Imagining the Internet survey: Experts divided on the evolution and impact of Berners-Lee’s Semantic Web

Elon's Imagining the Internet Center, in partnership with the Pew Internet and American Life Project have issued a new report dealing with the future of the semantic Web. Technology experts who participated in a recent survey believe online information will continue to be organized and made accessible in smarter and more useful ways in coming years. There is stark dispute about whether the improvements will match the visionary ideals of those who are working to build the semantic Web.

For the fourth consecutive year, a team from 福利亚洲国产精品 has been recognized for its performance in the prestigious Bateman Competition, which annually showcases the work of public relations students around the country. Elon was one of 16 teams to receive an honorable mention in the 2010 competition.

World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee and Vint Cerf, widely known as a "father of the Internet" and Google's Chief Internet Evangelist, were among the more than 60 speakers leading more than 20 different events at the three-day FutureWeb conference in Raleigh, N.C., April 28-30. The event was organized by the Imagining the Internet Center of Elon's School of Communications, and involved more than 40 Elon students, faculty and staff.

Alex Walton ’10 sought to answer those questions, as well as gauge the opinions of broadcasting professionals, in his study of product placements in reality television shows. His work is the fourth in a series of E-net profiles to showcase Elon undergraduate research during CELEBRATE! 2010.

Student leaders from a variety of academic disciplines were honored April 29 at the annual Omicron Delta Kappa awards ceremony in Whitley Auditorium, an annual ceremony that coincides with CELEBRATE! week. ODK recognizes students who have provided outstanding leadership in their junior or senior years, and who have maintained high academic performance.
