Members of the "Programming and Event Management" class in the Department of Sport and Event Management raised $525 to benefit the Campus Kitchen Project at Elon with a “Minute To Win It” event in McKinnon Hall on Nov. 16.

Michelle Ferrier, associate professor of communications, shared what it takes to develop and run a niche online community at the New Media Women Entrepreneurs Summit in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 8. Ferrier was a winner of the 2009 New Media Women Entrepreneurs competition and received $10,000 to launch LocallyGrownNews.com in May 2010.

A recent column in The Burlington Times-News underscored the civic engagement that students in an Elon journalism course perform each year.

Communications adjunct instructor Linda Gretton gave two presentations at the 75th annual conference for the Association for Business Communication in Chicago.

Four Elon students joined associate professor Hal Walker from Nov. 10-13, 2010, at the annual conference of the North Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem.

�������޹�����Ʒ senior Teri Horn has received the North Carolina Campus Compact’s fifth annual Community Impact Student Award for making significant, innovative contributions to her campus’ efforts to address local community needs. Horn was one of 34 college students across the state to receive the honor.
