Led by a matching gift from an anonymous donor, Elon Law’s Class of 2020 expanded a student emergency fund and sponsored a memorial that will celebrate the legacy of Dean Emeritus George R. Johnson, Jr.

Graduates in Elon Law’s Class of 2020 were recognized in an online program with school and professional honors for advocacy, legal writing and research, academic excellence, and excellence in service.

“One does one's best work where one is really engaged and committed.” Dean Emeritus George R. Johnson, Jr. praised Elon Law students and graduates while reflecting on his contributions to legal education in a video conversation recorded weeks before his passing. 

Kernodle, a recipient of the Elon Medallion for his service to the university, passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, at the age of 102.
