Elon thanks the more than 4,500 alumni who have made gifts to the university this fiscal year, which ends at midnight tonight. Alumni are encouraged to support the school, program or experience they valued the most. Check out a special video from Elon alumni about the importance of annual giving.
Southern Conference honors Dr. Bryan and Janet Latham

Elon trustee Dr. Bryan Latham and his wife Janet are among 12 recipients of the Southern Conference's 2011 Distinguished Service Award. Each of the SoCon member institutions select honorees for their contributions to the advancement of the schools and their athletics programs. The Lathams will be honored at a dinner in Charleston, S.C. on June 1.

It wasn’t enough for Victoria “Tory” Hill to simply show up for student teaching, give her lessons, and then go home. For the Spanish major who graduates Saturday from 福利亚洲国产精品, time spent this spring at Eastern Guilford High School will benefit students for years because of her initiative to support Spanish speakers in a school with few resources to help them better learn their native language.

Mary Bryan "Billie" Holt has had May 21, 2011, circled on her calendar for quite some time, but not because she has a child, a grandchild or even a great-grandchild graduating from Elon. Rather, Holt will attend Saturday's Commencement Exercises to honor her mother, Affie Camelia Griffin, who graduated from Elon College a century ago and delivered a commencement address to fellow members of the Class of 1911.

Black Alumni Network honors outstanding African-American students

Members of Elon's Black Alumni Network welcomed members of the Class of 2011 and honored three outstanding African-American graduates at the annual African-American Commencement Reception Thursday evening. The group also announced the recipient of the Black Alumni Network Scholarship, which has been endowed by gifts made by Elon's African-American graduates since 2007.
Hundreds of students attend annual senior picnic

With just three days until they receive their diploma, 福利亚洲国产精品 seniors gathered Wednesday on the lawn outside Moseley Center for the Senior Class Picnic for Graduates, Faculty and Staff. The annual event gives students a final opportunity to mingle over pork barbecue and chicken with the professors and staff members who have shaped their lives over the past four years.

UPDATE (5/29/11): D.C. Metro Police have announced that Matthew Hill '08, a campus youth minister in Washington, D.C., has been found alive and well, according to multiple news sources in the nation's capital and in his hometown of Charlotte, N.C.
