Break the Fast Vigil Today

For those who participated in the Darfur Fast we will be having a Break the Fast vigil tonight at 8:00pm in West Parlor.

Come out and reflect on your day of fasting and enjoy some great food.

2007 Multicultural Gala on Friday, April 27

The Multicultural Student Council will be hosting its second annual Multicultural Gala on Friday April 27th from 3:00 to 5:00p.m. The Gala will take place in Upstairs Moseley.

The purpose of the Gala is to promote diversity on campus through providing an opportunity for Elon students, faculty, and staff to learn about different cultures by visiting culturally themed offices and rooms on the second floor of Moseley.

Offices participating this year are:

Student Government- Finland

New Student Orientation- Brazil

Kernodle Service Learning- Honduras

International Relations Club- Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Korea, China, Singapore, India, Egypt, Canada, and Cyprus.

School of Communications- Nigeria and Korea (collaboration with IRC)
El Centro- Mexico, Central America, Panama, and Spain.

Residence Life- Mayan Culture

Come and enjoy free food, from curried chicken to Brazilian coconut cookies to fried plantains, music and learn fun facts about each country.

Students will get to vote on their favorite room and be entered in a raffle to win great prizes and free t-shirts.

Movie “Their Eyes were Watching God” cancelled for March 2

The Multicultural Student Council will not be showing, Their Eyes Were Watching God today in the Multicultural Center at 7:00. We will keep you posted on the new time and date.

Women of Color Reception, Thursday March 1

National Women of Color Day is March 1, and the Multicultural Student Council is celebrating this with a reception. The reception will be held in the Multicultural Center, Moseley 221-b on March 1 from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. We will have two faculty guest speakers, Prudence Layne and Chandana Chakrabarti, talk about their experiences as a women of color.

There will be light refreshments.

Don’t forget to wear your Women of Color t-shirt and if you have not purchased one, stop by the Multicultural Center, they are $6.

Stop by Moseley today from 11:00 to 2:00 and buy a Women of Color t-shirt. Shirts are $6 and come in purple, violet and lavender.

Wear the shirts on March 1st, National Women of Color Day and attend the reception from 4:15 to 5:00 in the Multicultural Center 221-B. We will have faculty members speak about their experiences as a women of color.

Stop by during College Coffee on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and buy your Women of Color T-shirt. We will also be passing out ribbons to celebrate National Women of Color Day on March 1st.

The shirts are $6 and come in purple, violet and lavender with the theme “Women of Color, Light Up the World.”
