This semester's edition marks the 12th in the history of the Elon Journal, the nation’s first and only undergraduate research journal in communications.

The student-produced newscast was honored with eight awards, including four first-place finishes, and two School of Communications graduates were recognized for their professional journalism efforts.

Associate Professor Hal Walker, chair of the university's Department of Sport and Event Management, called Weaver "highly deserving" of recognition from the North Carolina Sport Management Coalition.

During the annual NCAAHPERD-SM Convention, sport and event management majors Taylor Barclay ’15 and Kelly Siewers ’17 received undergraduate scholarships, Sophie Kane ’17 captured first place in the video resume competition, and a team of five students competed in a case challenge provided by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Phi Psi Cli, ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ·'s yearbook, will host a senior photo day on Monday, Nov. 9, in the Moseley Center's Oak Room. It will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A contingent from the Department of Sport and Event Management shared research on a variety of topics, including outdoor educational initiatives, first-year experience, facility management, and student leadership in collegiate recreation.

Fraser P. Seitel, author of “The Practice of Public Relations,” presented an Oct. 27 lecture, examining topics related to public relations, including industry misconceptions, expected skills and recent gaffes.

New York City-based freelancer Yana Paskova led an Oct. 22 presentation titled “Cuba in Transition,” which detailed her international work as well as her own upbringing in Europe.

Fourteen School of Communications alumni offered advice to current students about finding a job, succeeding on a professional level, and how their Elon experiences enhanced their careers.
