It’s one of the greatest thrills a musician can experience. Stephen Futrell, an associate professor and chair in the Department of Music, has been invited to conduct a concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall next summer – and he wants to take Elon students with him to participate in the performance.

Seventy-eight faculty and student leaders of university social entrepreneurship programs and activities participated in a two-day Social Entrepreneurship and Education Consortium workshop from April 2-3 co-hosted by �������޹�����Ʒ Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Purdue University Social Entrepreneurship Initiative.

Recognized as one of the nation's most versatile actors with extensive experience in television, theater and film - including Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions - Anthony Zerbe comes to �������޹�����Ʒ for three days this month to give a series of one-on-one workshops with performing arts students and for an evening performance based on the work of E.E. Cummings.

Students, faculty and community members from across North Carolina met April 4 in Elon’s Holt Chapel for the North Carolina Folklore Society’s Annual Conference, which included a presentation by three Elon students who are documenting the cultural heritage of the Cowee community in western North Carolina through the analysis of people’s stories, local traditions and cultural landscapes.

Belk Library celebrated a milestone this month with the purchase of the university’s 300,000th volume, “Earth From Above,” a limited edition book that captures in dozens of colorful, detailed photos the different cultures and landscapes found around the globe.

The law touches every field of study, from biology to sociology to literature, and that interaction is the focus of the Center for Law and Humanities, a new academic initiative that teaches students to use lessons learned in the arts and sciences to examine the way legal questions affect society.
