Alpha Chi Omega will host the third-annual “Mr. Alpha Chi” male beauty pageant on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. in Yeager Hall, Center for the Arts.

This year’s competition features formal wear, swimwear, talent and choreographed dance categories. The 11 contestants are represent Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Delta Upsilon, Sigma Chi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Liberal Arts Forum, Pi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta and Sigma Pi.

Scoring is based upon the following:
25% judges scores
25% money raised for each contestant
50% ticket sales are in support of the contestant, so buy a ticket in support of a contestant

Michelle Leibel and Alpha Chi Omega sweetheart, Kendall Adkins, will be hosting the event.

Tickets are on sale in Moseley through Friday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. All proceeds benefit Family Abuse Services of Alamance County.

Monday, September 25
Walk in Her Shoes/Mocktail Competition

The Green (Near Ellington Health Center)
Experience a “walk in her shoes” – a fun event where men wear women’s heels! Join in the entertainment. Also try some of the Mocktails prepared by Elon’s fraternity men. The winning drink will be featured at Saturday’s Casino Night!

Wednesday, September 28
YoZone Profit Share
11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
YoZone, Holly Hill Mall, Burlington
Enjoy a frozen treat – part of the proceeds with benefit victims of domestic violence, Alpha Chi Omega’s philanthropy.

Thursday, September 29
Pie and Alpha Chi

Get your chance to “pie” one of Alpha Chi’s best!

Saturday, October 1
Casino Night!
6-9 p.m.
McKinnon Hall
Enjoy fun, ‘gambling,’ and mocktails at Alpha Chi Omega’s first annual Royal Flush Casino Night! Get a chance to win great prizes and enjoy a night on the town, Vegas style.

Tickets for Casino Night are on sale at Moseley tables through Friday, September 30. Tickets are $5 in advance, and $7 at the door. All proceeds will benefit victims of domestic violence.

Alpha Chi Omega Recognizes Members’ Academic Achievements /u/news/2011/08/25/alpha-chi-omega-recognizes-members-academic-achievements/ Thu, 25 Aug 2011 13:39:00 +0000 /u/news/2011/08/25/alpha-chi-omega-recognizes-members-academic-achievements/ Alpha Chi Omega hosted its annual Scholarship Tea on Tuesday, May 3, to recognize its members’ academic achievements for the 2010-2011 academic year. The event also recognized Elon faculty who have influenced seniors during their time at Elon.

Chapter members recognized for having the top GPAs for their class included:
Julia Okada – freshman
Kirsten Holland – sophomore
Katie Franklin – junior
Claire Tamer – senior

Franklin also was recognized for having the highest overall chapter GPA.

Three members were awarded the semiannual wisdom, devotion, and achievement awards. These awards recognize members for achievements in the chapter, in academics and in their lives:
Wisdom – Elizabeth Riner, for her acceptance to University of Kentucky Pharmacy School
Devotion – Millicent Green, for her work as new member educator
Achievement – Celia Smith, for being named an 福利亚洲国产精品 Lumen Scholar

The event also recognized Elon professors who made an impact on members of the chapter. The following professors were honored:

Elizabeth Bailey (health and human performance)
Shereen Elgamal (foreign languages)
Sarah Glasco (foreign languages)
Beth McAlhany (marketing and entrepreneurship)
Coleman Rich (marketing and entrepreneurship)
Staci Saltz (communications)
Gary Tsarsis (finance)
Donna Van Bodegraven (foreign languages)
David Vandermast (biology)

Communications professor Staci Saltz was voted teacher of the year by chapter members.
