Sit next to the fire, roast marshmallows with your friends and enjoy the coming Christmas Season!

And although many mountains have already gotten several loads of fresh powder, Winter Term is one of the best times to experience the conditions!

This Winter Term, during Fake Break, Elon Outdoors will be traveling to Smuggler’s Notch in Burlington, Vermont, for 4 full days of skiing! Come with your friends, stay in a private condo and explore what is voted the best ski area on the east coast. Interested? We will be having interest meetings on Monday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 and 6 p.m. respectively. Both meetings will be held in Koury Commons in Campus Recreation (area between the Fitness Center and Belk Pool).

What: Smuggler’s Notch Ski Trip
When: Jan. 28 – Feb. 2
Where: Smuggler’s Notch Vermont
Cost: $434.00*

Cost includes 5 nights stay at the Slopeside condos, which are walking distance to the mountain gondola, transportation to and from the Burlington Airport, and 4 full day ski passes to Smuggler’s Notch.

Again, don’t forget: Interest meetings on Dec. 1 & 2 in Koury Commons at 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively!

Want to take a vacation before returning home for the holidays? Elon Outdoors will be traveling to Steamboat Spring, Colorado, from December 17–22. We would love for you to join in on the fun!

Steamboat averages more than 300 inches of snow annually and is home to some of the best skiing in North America. While staying in the luxurious Steamboat Condominiums, you will have 4 full days to tackle the slopes as well as 5 nights to see the best Steamboat has to offer downtown. Whether you are an expert boarder or are just picking up skis for the first time, this trip is bound to let you relax and enjoy the break after exams are over!

Come enjoy the coast of North Carolina before exams get here! Join Elon Outdoors this Saturday, April 26 for a day at
Wrightsville Beach!  We are traveling to
the coast of North Carolina for a day of swimming, shopping and relaxing on the
beach. 

Throw the Frisbee around with
your friends; toss a football while swimming in the ocean; simply work on your
tan before the summer gets hear or sharpen your sand castle design
techniques!  Either way, you’re bound to
enjoy a day on the sand! 

We will be
leaving at 8am Saturday and returning at 8pm the same day.  Don’t miss your chance to enjoy the out of
doors before exams start!

Lunch will be provided on the trip and is included in the
trip cost.  All you need to bring is yourself,
and anything you would need if you would like to go swimming, shopping or
playing around the beach!

Appomattox Trip March 7-8 /u/news/2008/03/05/appomattox-trip-march-7-8/ Wed, 05 Mar 2008 22:51:00 +0000 /u/news/2008/03/05/appomattox-trip-march-7-8/ Join Elon Outdoors this weekend for a fun trip up to Appomattox, Virginia. We will be touring the historic Appomattox Courthouse, the site where General Lee surrendered his army to signify the end of the Civil War.

All exhibits contain many original artifacts associated with the events surrounding the surrender of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. We will depart Friday, March 7th and return to campus on the afternoon of March 8th.

We will be holding Interest Meetings for those who may have questions on Monday, March 3rd at 5:00pm and Tuesday, March 4th at 6:00pm.  Please note, you do not have to come to an interest meeting to sign-up for the trip.  Each interest meeting will be held in Koury Commons (the area between Belk Pool and the Fitness Center).

Need a little time away from campus but not sure what to do? Join Elon Outdoors as we travel to Greensboro, N.C., on Feb. 15 for a night of indoor rock climbing at the areas largest indoor climbing gym, Tumblebees. Whether you are a beginner climbing your first route or an expert looking to work on your lead climbing, Tumblebees has something for everyone.

Don’t have any equipment? No problem, Tumblebees will provide a harness, chalk and shoes for a special discounted price!

What: Indoor Rock Climbing
When: Friday, Feb. 15
Cost: $10 (cost includes climbing fees, equipment fees, and transportation)
Time: 5:30-10 p.m.

Interested in signing up? Go to the front desk of Campus Recreation and tell them you want to go on the trip, put your name on the list, and bring your $10 cash when you meet the Trip Leader at the van*. The sign-up sheet will close Friday, Feb. 15, at noon, so be sure to get your name on the list!

Not interested in staying till 10 p.m.? No problem, we return from the climbing gym once everyone has had their fill of climbing. We leave when everyone is ready or when Tumblebees turns out the lights, whichever comes first!

How do I know when and where to meet the Trip Leader? Once you have signed up for the trip, the Trip Leader will send an email to all participants the morning of the trip giving details on where to meet and at what time. But make sure you are looking out for it because we leave promptly!
