Spanish faculty present at international conference

The AGSS Conference, "Feminist Futurities: Making People Think and Imagine in Times of Crisis," was held on Dec. 5-7.

Associate Professor of Spanish Mayte de Lama and Senior Lecturer in Spanish Ketevan Kupatadze presented聽their research at the 31st International Conference of the Association of Gender and Sexuality Studies (AGSS) held at the Centro Cultural ExC谩rcel, Valpara铆so, Chile.

The conference was titled “Feminist Futurities: Making People Think and Imagine in Times of Crisis” and was held on Dec. 5-7.

De Lama’s presentation entitled “Un amor que no mate: maternidad y (auto)cuidado en Madre m铆a que est谩s en los infiernos de Carmen Jim茅nez” analyzed motherhood in Jim茅nez’s novel and advocated for self care.

Kupatadze’s presentation “隆Dime c贸mo termina! La responsabilidad moral de la autora contempor谩nea frente a la crisis migratoria infantil” studied the child migration crisis at the border of the U.S. and M茅xico in two works by聽Valeria Luiselli: Desierto sonoro (2019) y Los ni帽os perdidos, un ensayo en cuarenta preguntas (2016).
