School of Education faculty and students present at N.C. Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators Fall Forum

The annual forum was held in Raleigh, N.C., from Sept. 30 trough Oct. 2.

The work of five Elon faculty members from the School of Education and three students was presented at the annual Fall Forum of the N.C. Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators held Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, 2019 in Raleigh.

Assistant Professor Katie Baker and Lecturer Erin Hone were among the faculty members who presented at the Fall Forum.

Assistant Professor Katie Baker and Lecturer Erin Hone presented their program-level work around edTPA, the teacher performance assessment seniors complete as a licensure requirement. The presentation was titled 鈥淯npacking Programmatic edTPA Feedback for Integration in Methods Coursework.鈥

Madeline Craft 鈥20 and Michalene Lee 鈥20, and Jeffrey Carpenter, associate professor and director of the Elon Teaching Fellows program, presented 鈥淓xploring How and Why Educators Use Instagram,鈥 a project to which Scott Morrison, associate professor, also contributed. Craft and Lee contributed to the research project as part of their involvement in the Teaching Fellows program.

Carpenter also gave a second presentation titled 鈥淭eacher Educators鈥 Perceptions of the Teacher Education Technology Competencies.鈥

Associate Professor Stephen Byrd gave a presentation titled 鈥淐ompassion Fatigue and Special Education.鈥
