Pendulum wins several awards from college media organizations

The student newspaper was recognized by the Associated Collegiate Press and the College Media Association during a student media conference in New Orleans.

The Pendulum, 福利亚洲国产精品’s student news organization, won several awards from the Associated Collegiate Press and the College Media Association at the two organizations’ joint Oct. 23-27 in New Orleans.

The list of honors was topped by a Pinnacle award for Best Feature Multimedia Presentation from CMA and a first-place Best of Show Multimedia Package recognition from ACP. The full list of winners is below:

Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker and Individual Awards

These are ACP’s most . The organization accepts entries from newspapers, yearbooks, news websites, literary magazines and general interest magazines nationwide. The Pendulum has been named an Online Pacemaker finalist three times in the last four years. This year, 54 finalists were chosen from 277 entries.

College Media Association Pinnacle Awards

CMA began the last year to honor student work for college radio or television stations, including Internet or closed-circuit outlets, and any college media website. Last year, The Pendulum won two Pinnacle awards. This year, the competition netted more than 250 entries from 62 colleges and universities.

College Media Association Best of Collegiate Design 21 Awards

CMA’s recognizes the best student media design work across 21 categories, that include competitions for newspapers, yearbooks and social media outlets.

  • First place in the Social Media Main-Page Presentation competition for , which judges said contained good reader interaction and an occasionally irreverent tone.

Associated Collegiate Press Best of Show Awards

The are open only to student media groups who submit their entries during the convention. Categories are offered for newspaper, yearbook, website, magazine, special section and multimedia package.

The Pendulum‘s managing editor Jonathan Black, web editor/social media editor Mary Kate Brogan, photo editor Katy Canada, design editor Kristen DeMaria and assistant news editor Michael Bodley attended the conference. Pendulum adviser and coordinator of student media Colin Donohue was also in attendance.

This year, more than 2,300 students from schools across the country attended the 92nd National Student Media Convention, which features hundreds of journalism sessions, networking opportunities, professional critiques and other special events.
