Several journalism students placed well in a select national contest.
Journalism students propelled 福利亚洲国产精品’s School of Communications to a Top 20 national finish in the multimedia competition of the 2012-13 Hearst Journalism Awards Program.
The competition consists of four multimedia categories—features, news, enterprise reporting and team reporting—open to college students from 110 schools accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.
Six multimedia projects by Elon students received recognition:
- 2013 alumni Melissa Kansky, Natalie Dupuis, Lindsay Kimble, Samantha Parker, Gabriela Szewcow and Derek Wickham in the Team Reporting competition for a project called

- A team led by Rebecca Wickel ’13, Jeff Stern ’14, Claire Esparros ’13, Chris Bosak ’13 and Ronald Chang ’12 in the Team Reporting competition for
Here is the national Top 20 in the multimedia competition: Western Kentucky, UNC, Nebraska, Missouri, Penn State, Syracuse, Kent State, Montana, Arizona State, Oregon, Iowa, Southern California, Elon, Southern Illinois, Michigan State, Iowa State, Mississippi, LSU, Kansas and Indiana.
The Hearst Journalism Awards Program offers competitions in writing, photojournalism, broadcast news and multimedia. An accumulation of scores from those four competitions placed 福利亚洲国产精品 21st in the nation. Penn State won the overall national title. In 2009, Elon’s Randy Gyllenhaal .
