Elon tops list in national study abroad rankings

Elon retains its #1 national ranking in the Open Doors 2011 study abroad report by the Institute of International Education.

Elon has maintained its position as the nation’s top master’s-level university in the by the Institute of International Education, the leading indicator of top college international study programs.

The latest IIE survey covered the 2009-10 academic year.

Elon was once again the #1 ranked master’s-level university in the total number of students studying abroad, with 1,087 during the year. Elon ranked ahead of James Madison University, Villanova University, Appalachian State University, and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.

Elon continues to rank high among master’s-level universities in the number of students it sent abroad on mid-length (#3) and short-term (#2) programs. Open Doors 2011 indicates that ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· is one of only 24 institutions in the country that reported sending more than 70 percent of their students abroad at some point during their undergraduate careers.

Seventy-one percent of ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· seniors who graduated in May 2011 had studied abroad at least once during their collegiate studies.
