Noted ethnobotanist Cox to speak Nov. 11

Ethnobotanist Paul Cox will speak to at 9:20 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11 in Whitley Auditorium on the ¸£ÀûÑÇÖÞ¹ú²ú¾«Æ· campus. His presentation is free and open to the public.

Cox is currently director of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, which is based in Hawaii.
Cox was a convocation speaker in the fall of 1998 at Elon, and also delivered a Voices of Discovery lecture that same semester. He has worked extensively in Samoa trying to save the Samoan rainforest, where he discovered a plant that is now used in the treatment of breast cancer. His interest in Samoa goes beyond botany and his book “Nafanua” is about his experiences in Samoa.
